GULFPORT – An educational seminar on drone safety and regulations was held Thursday, January 19 at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport.
The seminar featured a panel of four aviation and unmanned aircraft systems professionals including Albert McCray, Aviation Safety Inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration; Doug Harwell, Air National Guard pilot and owner of Drone Assist, Inc.; Dallas Brooks, Director of the Raspet Flight Research Laboratory and Robert Moorhead, Director of the Geosystems Research Institute.
More than 70 drone operators and hobbyists attended the seminar. Topics discussed included drone regulations for recreational and commercial use, drone uses that require FAA authorization, penalties for not operating unmanned aircraft systems in compliance with FAA regulations and more.
