GULFPORT — Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport has been awarded a $909,583 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for energy efficiency enhancements.
The grant will be used to replace existing terminal lighting with energy-efficient lighting. Street lights at the airport’s main entrance road and portions of lighting on the terminal exterior are being replaced.
“We are pleased to be awarded this grant, and look forward to further reducing energy consumption after the project’s completion,” said Clay Williams, Executive Director at Gulfport-Biloxi international Airport. “The Airport Authority continues to seek ways to reduce costs while operating in an environmentally sustainable manner.”
Earlier this year, the airport also partnered with Mississippi Power Company on an HVAC optimization project that will reduce the amount of energy needed to cool the terminal building.
