Terminal Expansion
NOW COMPLETE
- The expansion project cost a total of $51 million.
- The Airport will repay the bond issue through government authorized “passenger facility charges” which is an existing $4.50 charge on each ticket.
- The airport boast two new gates, expanded lobby and ticket area, improved roads to and from the terminal, larger baggage claim and security areas and space for two new airlines.
- The expansion project expanded the airport terminal from 92,000 square feet to 165,000 square feet.
- The airport has undergone three expansions since 1987, the most recent expansion in 1997.

PARKING GARAGE
- The new parking garage cost a total of $15 million.

Million Air
Plans are underway for construction of a new FBO facility scheduled to open 2010. Construction and operation of the facility was awarded to Million Air. For more information, visit http://www.millionair.com.

New Air Traffic Control Tower
In September 2009, ground breaking will commence on the new Air Traffic Control Tower. The tower will be constructed 171 feet above sea level and is scheduled to begin operations by March 2012.

New Airport Road Lighting
As part of a cooperative project between the City of Gulfport, Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, plans are underway for major improvements to the street lighting and intersection on Airport Road. Pending MDOT approval, this project is scheduled to be completed in 2010. |
John Hill Boulevard Development
Currently in the planning stage of development, John Hill Boulevard will be extended into the new general aviation facilities. This project will greatly improve access to air cargo and general aviation facilities. Working in conjunction with Harrison County and the Mississippi Development Authority, this project is scheduled to be completed in 2010. |
